Composite fuel tank

Seems like a bad idea, waste of time and money. Your alot better off buying a limited slip or ti fuel tank. You say you don't have the $$, well if you consider all the time you will spend trying to make a tank, I'm sure you could make a couple hundred in that same amount of time.

I'm all about making custom parts, I do it all the time, but learning composite work with a fuel tank isn't a good place to start.

It was just a thought guys, no need to be so negative about a little experiment! Well, I may be getting a 3 gallon Jaz tank for a killer deal which is about a gallon more than my kart tank..that alone will make a difference and give me over an hour of ride time.

Throw your gas can in the tray and keep it pinned in with your knees until you get to your ride spot. Stash it on shore and fill up as needed. Bets of both worlds. Have fuel and keep your ski light.

I will probably end up doing this sometimes

I agree, my money is best spent elsewhere for the amount of times I actually need the extra fuel.

Reality check or opposing views is different from negativity.

Noone is againt an expirament. Wax a few glass jars and layp over them. Remove the jar and laup a top. Use something like a salsa jar that is wide enough for a cheap gascap like a x2/650sx fill. Ask around for sample sizes of tank liners, different resins. Fill them up with some fuel, add stabilizer, let sit 6 months. Your constant is the gas can or a glass jar wrapped protected from light.

Vinylester ethanol free
Ethanol resistant epoxy
Ethanol in a lined tank
To name a few test samples.

Inspect the fuel. Then move to a glass jar, let evaporate, compare residue.

Its a good science expirament for someone with school aged kids.
