I thought ring end gap was supposed to be about .014 to .016 for stock, not sure what Wiseco recommends on the new style pistons.

Bore is 3.322", pistons are 3.300"
That's a whopping 11 thou clearance.
I need to find a different machine shop.

More pics of the clearance on the rings

Could someone tell me where to measure bore size?

I just checked at the deck level, and it comes to 84.38mm. A bit big for 84mm.
Also, where to measure the piston? I measured it at the crown, but I am 99% sure that's wrong.

Ring gap is 0.09 inches.
I did not detect anything out of round in the cylinder (deck height anyways)

Looks like .090 to me?? I agree with wax, time to bore it up to 84.5 or re sleeve again. That sux man.

Thanks Chuck. However: Be aware that I bought it this way. Bored, honed & with piston kit.
I did not have it bored. Too bad it's too big. :soapbox:

I got 84.25 Pro-X's kicking around, I'll go with that if I can.

Since you're where you are, save some shipping time and money and send it to Randy!:Banane19:

Mmmmh....I just measured the Pro-X pistons.
They would give me 5 thou clearance (perfect) but ring gap is at 40 thou. (0.04)

I'll bet you check your ring gap and piston clearance from now on. :hitwithrock:

You have to watch those local yocal machine shops with their boring equipment.

It pays to have the job done right with someone familiar with jet-ski cylinders.

Having the proper ring end gap is just as important as the piston clearance.
