compression

I went through this headache with 4 different gauges (one of them being a Snap-On) the ended up buying a real gauge ($4,872.95).

I have about 185/187psi on +.075" bore with 37cc dummies.

Just run it! :sneaky:

you really spent 5 g's on a compression gauge, think how many motors you could have gone through even if you did F something up and blow a piston or something. I guess unless ya use it for your job or something like that?

I get all my tools from walmart... and harbor freight...

I just find people like stanford who have the right tools and have them feel bad for me and let me use their tools...

"Ahh man, look at my walmart tools... they suck...."

Compression gauges are hit/miss. I bought one at a Western Auto Parts store in Charleston, SC back in '91 I think, for like $12, and it still works, very consistent and reads what it should.

However, I also realize that cranking compression is just a guideline for that engine, spinning that fast, with those conditions. It is not an indication of performance really.
