so you want to put a gyro on a jet ski?

no, a lever that locks the pole in position.

I like either of these ideas....

For the first one, you could do more of a 'potts mod' (old school BMX freestyle term, who knows the origins?) with the throttle cable and put the start stop switch on your dash....

For the second one...seems pretty feasable with a locking brake lever (another old school freestyle bmx) mod.

now which way do you want the bars to spin? vertically or horizontally? If its horizontally some chinpad adjustment would have to be made.. I would love to see some double truckdrivers and maybe a one footed X-up.

There are 2 completely different conversations happening within this thread. The one about making the bars spin 360° is off the original topic and needs to go back to a bmx forum where it actually makes sense. continuing it here is absolutely pointless.

Glad I could help in some small way.:bump:

sorry... :theyareontome:
back on the right topic... the locking handlepole is a good idea... could help to progress the sport

In order to make this practical it has to be a simple design. (Remember KISS- Keep it simple stupid?) Unfortunately I can't think of any simple way to rig this up. You would need a disk which would need to be mounted to the pole bracket and a caliper mounted to the pole hooked to a wire or hydrolic actuated lever (that can be locked) on your bars. So you'd need a completely redesigned pole bracket and pole w/caliper combo at minimum. unless you want to go to that extreme of designing and building this it seems to me if you want to do tricks which require a tight pole it would be much easier just to get used to riding with a continously tight pole :(

Conceptually speaking!!!!!

1. Small rotor on the inside of the pole attached to the through bolt with a small double cylinder mountain bike caliper...

And going further out of the box...within reason.

2. The friction or caliper unite mounted proud of the pole. on the nose, With sliding lever attached to the pole to make up for swing radius differences.
... NOT to off the wall and some what cross brand universal.

I fitted a car gas ram on my pole and it equalises the force needed to move the pole up and down and 'Damps' the movement to some degree.
This makes the ski alot nicer to ride as you don't have to keep lifting the pole up against the weight of the pole and the stiffness of the pivot! it is only the stiffness of the pivot.
Do you think if locked completely it may damage the pole mounting area?

i love the idea of being able to lock the pole in place. i mean stand ups have more progression possibilities than, say, blasters. but it hurts that there are tricks they do that a stand up cant.. theres something wrong with that

that looks really nice! how do they do in the water?

that is such a sick pic! haha is the nose of that ski crushed?

The brake set up is a pretty interesting idea. Would be nice if you could just lock it there and not have to hold it.

I've got no desire to do a heel clicker because if my feet are that close to my ears...there is some serious :):):):) going down that I don't want to be a part of.

But in all seriousness, if you want to start trying tricks like that, they are pretty easy with a short limiter rope, or one with an extra carabiner that you can clip in when you want to shorten the travel of the pole. You can see the rope pretty clear in this picture. The only real problem with this set up is that it takes a few seconds of dicking around to get the rope to clip in. And that is not really such a big deal, except when you are competing it can really throw off your momentum.

Im pretty intrigued by this, I like the acctuator, on a pin that just locks it instantly at the base of the pole with the push of a button, i just dont know how strong that would be. another thought would be to put a atv hydraulic brake setup and have a check valve to keep the pressure to lock it in place, then have a hydraulic release button to let the pressure off with the push of a button. that way, you pull the lever once and it locks, hit the release button and it lets loose. I don't know, just a thought...

that's what I'm talking about. but you need to mount two smaller ones on either side on hinges, instead of the single one in the middle.
