Congrats To Eric Malone

Who said I was just talking about malone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He and some of the others are doing what sells............ but that just it........ catering to the Masses................ I know, same arguements from last year still stand..........for any of you who were not around 10 years ago, freestyle has changed....... It use to be a show where you rarely saw the same trick twice in a routine............ How many Rolls did Ant pull in Pro Freestyle ? hmmmmmmmm 4, but what else did he do? How many different tricks did Malone do? 4 (Roll, Back Flip, Twist and Ghost Ride) and had repetitive........ Why not just change the whole format to a sickest trick contest........ cause, that is basically what is being done now.

The riders are doing what sells, thats true. Its also what the people want to see and what wins. Hood tricks wont cut it in pro freestyle anymore. Its go big or go home.

I've been pulling out my old videos from the past lately, and while its true there was more tricks pulled in a routine back then, but the big tricks won then too. Other tricks were just "filler". Stabs were the big trick then, and they would pull 3 or 4 in a routine easily. They just had different variations on them, Same as today.
Non of the runs seemed repetitive to me. They just take out the filler, and give people what they really want to see, and what will give them a chance to win.

Freestyle has always been a sickest trick competition. Just a 2 minute version of it. Nothing at the WF comes close to freestyle. Its standing room only, the crowd goes crazy, and the cameras are all working overtime. You have to be there to really get it. No one walked way from freestyle on Havasu saying, too repetitive, or not enough hood tricks, just amazed at what these guys can do. Even the freeriders there... Kenney, Curtis, Serlin and Jerry all said "that sh*t was sick!"

he can do more and go bigger . why bring out all your tricks so lenzi or stone can practice them for the next year and bring them out against him at the wf . instead of asking why malone does not bring out his cards why doesnt some else bring a new trick to the table . ps you should see this guy ride behind a two boats for awhile of there wake thats fun to watch flat water is dying freeride is the future . look at motorcross .eme 1000 is 42000 and the eme800 is 30000 . and the bottom is based of a kawa not a ploaris the top is a kawa and polaris blend the pump also sticks back because it is a short hull .

^^^^^Or does the pump stick back because the hull is shortened and the pumps moved back in the hull????

I agree though, I think this sport would go alot bigger if they brought some competition to the beaches. Everything is just done much bigger in the surf, and you wouldnt need a 40k boat to be competetive. There are always lots of people around beach area's as well. I realy think the sport could/would blow up if there were some sort of Beach freestyle comp.

Here is the coherent English Translation

Eric Malone is the greatest. He is saving his big tricks for next year. Eric is waiting for Fabio to pull something off, so he himself can top it. I live near an ocean, so i know freeriding is the best. Only people with talent do flatwater. EME boats are too expensive. They're polaris/kawi hybrids that cost mucho deniro.

I shot all my vid from the water, and got some interesting shots of the rear of malones boat when it was pulled up on the beach. His boys had a cap they'd place over the exit nozzle anytime it was out of the water, so who knows what's goin' on inside that thing.

he's always up to something! :hail:

Nice!

Congrats to Eric, if he ever reads this. He claims he never gets a chance, but hey you never know! A lot of work, time, skill, etc go into this for all the competitors. I wish them all congratulations!

Then ... maybe we need a sickest trick comp sort of like the X-Games, and a full run that is freestyle.

What sells at the X-games????.......BIG AIR!!!......You dont see freestyle MX taking place on a flat paved Parking lot!!!!!!! Who the hell wants to see that??? There launching huge ramps with 100ft gaps.

This sport needs to move to the SURF!!!!!!! Then shiet will be going off for the spectators, and for the sport.

i have to agree here........... look at mx compared to street bike stunting...... or vert ramp bikes/skate boards compared to flatland/street........ hell even vert ramp rollerblading made it into x-games at one point in time

hell yeah, and i though it was going that way when they moved the national tour to just the west coast a few years back (or what ever it was they did). It was all surf, racing, freestyle, everything. Then it just kinda fell apart. I think surf events will bring a bigger viewing audiance... people love to watch that stuff. And that's the stuff that makes for good TV coverage. Viewers want to see riders going big... they already have NASCAR for the roundy round stuff. And most people are simply just not impressed by flat water routines any more.

Yeah they axed the Flatland BMX a few years back in the X-Games. I used to ride BMX and never once did I ever drop in on a vert ramp! It is scary as hell sitting on the top of one of those! I mean it is only ten feet tall but you know if you clip your sprocket or rear tire, it is all over for you... you are heading straight to the flat bottom for a face plant!

As for Flatland, I will say that is is just as hard or technical as vert but doesn't require near the balls. Flatland will still mess you up because you are in all contourted positions and could fall in a funny position and bus an ankle or wrist.

Slut, you are 100% right! Surf is where it is at! And this is coming from someone who lives in West Virginia and has never ridden surf. Man I need to move to a beach! Especially one with lots of hot beaches on it.
