Convert Kawi to Yami Start Stop Switch?

Does anyone know how to convert an SXR 800 to a Yamaha start stop switch?

Thanks, and Happy New Year!

Replace the plug ends or make a pig tail.

The down side of replacing the plug ends is obvious. The down side of the pig tail is an extra connector to fail.

@JetManiac definitely has Yamaha oem plug ends but not sure about Kawi.

@OCD Solutions was putting together a harness that you just unplug the bullet connectors inside the ebox and plug in a replacement harness with a yamaha end. That way, if you want to go back to stock, you just plug the stock harness back in.

I built 2 or 3 but never did advertise them. Been sitting on a shelf for a good year at least.

I don't know if I ever finalized the connections to ensure they were going to work as required. IIRC I discovered a difference in the internals of the switches themselves and never followed up on what it was going to take to make them work.

I'll take one. You think you can make it work?

My problem when dealing with anything Kawi is that I don't have any Kawi stuff to play with or test stuff out on.

Here is what I put together though.

Remove the pins from the black and white plugs on the end of the Yamaha switch lead and put them int the Kawasaki plug end you remove from your old switch.
You have a bit extra black and white that a cable tie will take care of.

Do it all the time.

Colors are all the same, so you just switch connectors?

Not the same colour.
I haven't got one here but it's an easy thing to figure out.
The square male plug in the kawi switch uses the same pins as the 2 Yamaha ones.
So just push out all the pins in all the plugs and use the kawi male plug body with the Yamaha switch pins.

Just had one in the workshop too, forgot I answerd this (unusual thing for me to do) or I would have taken a pic.

Please post a pic if you can.
