Other core mat

I have some core mat here, and only ever tried 6x6" test panels with it. Can someone explain how to use this stuff? All of our samples failed. I have heard bad bad things about using this in a hull. I would like to try it on something of my own just to see what happens.

Apply a layer of glass with full resin wetout, lay the coremat over the first layer of glass and saturate it with resin, the coremat should change color when wet out with resin, this also indicates that the binder has dissolved. You may now roll out the coremat to get it to conform to the shape of whatever you are making, then lay your other layers of glass over the coremat, if you are looking for coremat with minimal resin absorption use coremat XM .

It's 2mm core mat. We vacuum bagged the test panels, 2 layers of 1708 on either side, core mat cut 1" shy of reaching the edges. We let it cure and tried to flex it and sure enough it de laminated almost instantly. How wet do you need to get the coremat?

sopping wet, the bonding takes place through the holes in the material, it acts like a bunch of I beams once set, its great as a bulker but because of the resin absorption its not exactly light weight.

I've only heard bad things about it in for a ski. I'd bet it would be a good bulking tool for molds though.

Don't the LWDE skis have some sort of core?

Rickters have core in them, too. Choosing the right core for the application is key. I use a few different types of core material on a daily basis at work. Some are structurally very rigid, and some are more flexible. Your choices vary a lot, depending on what you're trying to accomplish.

BTW, I build the body (hull, deck, seat, fenders, console, etc.) for this vehicle.
