how did the thing not snap in half at the end???

I was kinda hopeing for it to go up on one of those rails off that big ass tank...

Thats funny because that is the pump house where I ride.

Back in '95 we were coming out of that very same inlet and saw some dude frantically waving his arms while standing on the pump house jetty. Waves were great so I thought it was a surfer bitching at us...I get closer and he points out to where the rollers were begining to build and says "help, I lost my SuperJet, I last saw it floating over there" (pointing 1000ft offshore). We looked but could never find it (there was a very strong rip current). The swells were 10ft-12ft.

I get home that night and see it on the news. There was footage of the SJ getting rolled around the pump house area.

When waves are big, the pump house eats FNG's for lunch and if mechanical failure...it will eat the best of them.

Looked like the guy was having a blast out there.

Lucky for him the seat didn't pop off as they were known to do on the GPR.
The seat latch had a tendency for letting go if water pushed hard enough on it from the rear.

The GPR has one strong hull (I have pictures of mine after hitting a submerged tree) so I'm sure nothing happened to it.

I wish my SJ stayed upright so well. Although, if it had flipped, he wouldn't have been swimming so far.

Either way, serves him right for riding in the surf alone.

did anyone watch any of the big wave videos that come up with it? some naaasty wipeouts. i dont see how they survive getting buried buy a 25 footer - with their surfboard bobbing like a tombstone till they make it back up.

the one "down the line" has some real brief footage of the tow/rescue skis getting swallowed.
