Couch in big surf ends up on jetty

Man this gives me the chills. Lately the surf has been pumpin here in socal and this couple finds out the hard way. The Wedge in Newport Beach California is notorious for big unpredictable shore break surf, which is usually heavily populated with surfers and boogie borders. Not something I personal would venture out in especially on a couch.

Just look at how high up the surf plants the ski on the jetty.

My favorite part...

wave riders of all craft can be seen getting pummeled, however it’s unusual that jet-skiers (the most arrogant of all water craftsman) end up tangled up in her vicious spin cycle.

I remember watching a big wave video where this pro surfer was talking about the Wedge- he hated how unpredictable the waves are and how crowded it gets there. Apparently, you have to wait for a wave that rebounds off the jetty to double the normal wave height, but the waves there just don't curl over with any degree of consistency.

That couch pilot made an odd choice to WOT straight towards the jetty though maybe he couldn't see it in the surf until it was too late. They are fortunate nobody got seriously hurt, but I have to admit, it was a little sad to see that Seadoo capsize and start sinking.

I think they panicked and let of the throttle then did one of the "cranks bars and ski doesn't turn" oh Sh** moments then b00m! wiped out. I don't know why they did not just hang a left and ride with the surf till they could charge over the white wash.

People amaze me these days.

I don't know whats more shocking. To see two idiots almost lose their lives or to see a bruthah out on the water on a jet ski. Any of my black friends avoid water sports at ALL costs. lol
