Couch part out advice

Just wanted a little input from some fellow members. I'm looking at picking up a 97 wave raider 760 for around $950. Question is will this be worth it at this price? The owner says the 760 has been swapped for a 701 and from what I can tell it's a 61x single carb engine. Looking at picking this up to put my WCF carbon superjet back together. What all is useable?

Cables for steering and throttle?

Midshaft?

Pump components?

Exhaust hoses?

I don't know if they swapped the electronics for the 61x stuff or if it still has the 760 stuff in it. If the 760 stuff is still in it, is it usable on the 61x for now?

Any input helps, thanks!

Midshaft housing, motor mounts, random hardware, electronics, start stop switch. I think the pump assembly too (driveshaft will not, but Jetmaniac can modify it). I feel like it's probably not a great investment if it's in fact a 61x engine.

What would be a better price to try and get it for? He said the price is flexible so I may be able to get it cheaper?

$500 or less. Too many unknowns to pay more so price it like the engine is blown, the carbs are trash and the pump is seized. What's it worth in scrap?

I've got to agree with OCD, if it was a 62T motor, you would at least have a few hundred bucks in crank case and intake parts but 61x engine parts are worth very little. If you can run it, and ride it and test the compression and it all checks out, I'd go $750 at most.

He says it runs and everything, I would do a compression check before I purchased it. I think if I can get it around 800 i would be better off. Our market where we live is insane what people ask for old sit downs. Anything under 1000 is usually just a clapped out turd with a blown motor and serious hull damage.

If it's a 61x motor I wouldn't even pay 800. My dad just got an extremely clean 61x motor with electronics, exhaust, carb, etc all for 540$ shipped. And you can build a superjet pump with an 08+ prop for under 300$. Modding a couch driveshaft costs over 150$ and I've seen plenty of complete superjet pumps minus prop for not much more than that alone.. Heck, you can build a fresh 61x motor with sbt crank, 82mm prox pistons, etc for not much more than 700$, maybe less..

I think the steering cables are long enough to work too plus the water box makes a great blaster water box relocation candidate. Tons of misc hardware and pieces for builds including random nice ss bolts...

Where are you located? I picked up a running 96 waveraider 760 that still had all the factory paint on all the bolts and carb screws (never been molested) for 600 last fall in the Midwest. What he's asking is too much IMO.

I decided to bail on it and wait a for a better deal, thanks for the inputs guys. If it woulda been a 760 or a 62t I woulda snagged it.
