Couch recommendation please

My home away from home.
I know it's only a single ski, but Reno Kawi is selling new 09 15F's for $6995.00 New single trailers for $600.00 ish I think. If my post BK credit didn't suck so bad I would grab one of those for the wifey and kids. Not trying to get off subject at all, just giving an option. Warranties are nice too. They had an add in CL reno / tahoe last week. Sorry for the semi thread derail.

to be honest my family likes to ride my 550sx more than my dads couch. even my 12 yr old sister like to ride around on her knees. i know there is the babysitting factor, but even on a couch i will not let her get to far from me. just a thought...

Well, I am sure everyone here agrees... But this is a couch thread on the anti-couch site.
Peter asked a question... It went kind of like this: "Hey guys, I know how to replace them rear shocks on my Lamborghini, but what do you think the best minivan for my uncle and his kids would be?"

...and this is the first time i've ever heard of a sea-doo being reliable, i've always heard just the opposite.

I kNOW it!!! That's what I am trying to figure out! MY ski has never given me issues, and it has been tested like a bandit! It's my mule! It has been a dependable, reliable big ole boat! Maybe all of you men just do not know how to properly take care of a ski...that's what I am starting to think! :sneaky:

The 951 motors had a pretty bad reputation, although, in fact, they were pretty reliable engines after the initial 1997 run. After that, the most blow-ups were caused by electrical, lubrication and fuel system problems.
The 951 DI was a total failure, not because of the engine design, but because of the bad peripherals.
I had almost every component of my Doos go bad except the engines. Sold my 1998 GSX-L with 203 hours on the original engine with some mods with no rebuilds. 90% salt water riding.

:highhorse:...I've never had to do anything other than the annual standard preventative maintenance on my SEA DOO! Except once, and I don't even recall what it was (nothing serious)...I just pulled the receipt, and all the guy mentioned was "full service" (lazy guy...he didn't detail it, yet that doesn't surprise me with him). I had to buy a part, and he installed it. Nothing to do with the motor, I recall that at least! EDIT: and it wasn't even expensive! DBL EDIT: AND that's the only part I have had to purchase!!! :cool2:

Yamaha=kevlar
Sea-doo=paper target at gun range

Just tell him to buy 2 Yammies and be done with it.

I see your point, but the older Yamaha hulls were made of SMC.
The Sea-Doo hulls were made of fiberglass.

;)

Anyway, I am still standing behind my STX suggestion.

yep... I bet it's fun for a couch too.

we did actually have a pretty good time on it last weekend. my superjet is down for glass work. funny thing is, my dad has two ski's: an ultra250x(or 260x? idk, who cares) and that 1100stx and me and my bro fight over the 1100 because it is so much less boring. the super couch ended up being parked and we just started trying to throw each other off the stx( i got an hd gopro onboard video, but since the ski has been custom painted and reupholstered without the passengers "oh S*&% handle", we had to hold on to whoever was driving, we didnt know how queer we looked til we started watching the vid, and i lack editing ability for the HD)

and going up to my buddies shop alot, while there is many different brands going up there with problems, its seems the seadoos never have little things wrong with them, they are completely blown to hell.

i'd also recommend to him to only get one and make them share. two teenagers on the water at once wont equal anything good once they get to comfortable with operating them.

The Yamaha FX series hulls are the best I have ridden, We used to have a honda f-12 3 seater, but we sold it after riding it for one day because it was too unstable (for towing in) in comparison to the FX

Thank you for all the replies. I'll pass on that information.

BTW, I suggested to him to get 2 squares (or at least one) and a couch, but he had no interest. And I know this is a standup site, but many of you either still have a couch or two or have owned them in the past.

Id have to say go with some Honda's. Ive had one for 5 years now with 200hrs on it. has nt had a problem yet. back then all my buddys bought different couches and all have been to the shop for something. now all the guys that i ride with are buying hondas cause they see the abuse i have givin it(nose stabs in the ocean, all salt water riden, sank it, lots of WOT) and still works fine and has pretty good performance.

Thats cuz you ride it like a GURL.

My mother picked up an '04 Honda Aquatrax early this season. She seems to really like it, but she is in her mid 60's, lol.

She needs to bring it down to the surf, or maybe not!!

She might be a good one to have around.

My first rescue was on my :highhorse:SEA DOO.:highhorse: It was a deep swell, new stand-up rider (then), and he was about to take a serious beating. I had a boot cast on clear up to my knee, and didn’t have any issues getting him out. Then again, I'm pretty sure you guys (BIG EDIT: DO NOT) get surf like that often. :sgrin:
