Hey all - I am running a cold fusion coupler and damper. I lawn darted my ski and I think my motor shifted slightly. The coupler is now broken and I notice a few of the teeth is slightly "chewed".

DO you think its ok to get a new damper and continue running it? Or do the couplers need to be replaced? Will the damaged teeth on the couplers cause issues down the road?

Cold fusion is a great company and I'd put money on it that they are stronger than oem.

I crushed 2 dampeners in one season. Alignment was perfect. I contacted Carl and he told me that it was my fault they broke because "I didnt keep the dampener lubed"... He did say that his couplers are only good to 900cc though. I think thats the professional way of saying their couplers/dampeners wont hold up to real power. This was in my 1100.
Also, Id take that bet. ;)

Interesting, I figured billet would be much stronger than cast. I've never busted billet couplers but I've broken several oem.

CF couplers
1 season on my dasa 900
2 seasons on my dasa 1200
No issues, I run cut SXR dampers, if that helps.

Does any high end assembled ski ship with CF motor mounts? I bet they are all OE genuine Yamaha...and for a reason.

I also run CF couplers and had a red dampener installed on my limited 701 (bored to maybe 718?). I ended up munching the red dampener but the couplers held up fine. I cut down a kawi rubber dampener and it's holding up fine. I'm not running MONSTER power though like some of the guys on here.
