Cracker Sinks SKi to the bottom of Atlantic... HELP

Not :lmao:

Totally sunk my ski in Overhaed surf Sunday! Its a floater! No foam conspiracy is a buch of :bs2: My tray leaks in a little water over time, but not enought to let her sink to the bottem..... tray stayed up, and floating high just as well as it would with dry foam, probably much better then wet foam would do.

Just make sure if you go the no foam route that you reinforce! That foam adds strengeth to the tray.

Boat is holding up like a battle tank, 1/2 to 3/4 throttle roles all day... a few Backys as well/

Hurrr.....after just finding my foam waterlogged again, I am considering simply defoaming and not refoaming. The inside is already reinforced well enough.

I would just put drain plugs in the back.

I have 1 layer of kevlar on the inside of boat, from front to back, tying upper and lower together.

That wasnt quite enough.

So I grinded off all gelcoat from the upper.

Reinforced bondline with two layers of 10oz Carbon.

Boat is still super light, and built tuff enough for everything I have been able to throw at it so far.

Then applied 1 layer of 5.5oz carbon/kevlar + two layers of 5.5oz S-glass.

Over the upper.... It was a shiet load of work.:banghead: Filled in the gas filler, ground 100% of the Gel with a 5" pad on a high speed drill.... then blocked it out... all with 40 grit.

Layed it up, and called it good.... havnt bothered with finish sand and paint. Im happy with how it came out. The layers are all the full length of the boat, and overlap at the nose.... I have spiked the ground at least 5 good times, with zero damage.

So, thickening the top deck only fixes the cracking bondline?

The insides of my ski are reinforced well (Carbon, Carbon/Kevlar, S-Glass) top to bottom, the entire length.

Should I still consider doing the outside?

No, too much work.... I just didnt want to tear up the pretty Kevlar on the inside.... that stuff is no good to sand or cut/trim....

I should have done the epoxy and 404 filler down th bondline (inside of boat) in the first place, and maybe it would have lasted longer.... I still see people crack the bonline, even with epoxy and filler, and lots of reinforcement.

I've done 1-1/2 seasons of 1/2 and 3/4 rolls and plenty surf throw-aways and no cracks in sight.

Hey, what hood are you running now?
I need to get something other than what I've got. It's bullet proof, but probably over 20lbs. It's ridiculous.

Still the Daiblo... held on by only two hood straps, no latch.

Thanks Jeff for getting me out the Hood hooks, Hood latch, hoses, and nose piece:bsflag:
