Super Jet Cranks - which way to go?

I went with SBT and havent had a single problem (granted its only been 1 season)
My ski ran strong until i pulled it out of the water. If i ever manage to finish my pump swap it hopefully will work great this season too.
Cant beat the SBT price

I always get my cranks from Jeff Seabold at Competative Crankshafts. He does top notch stuff and He's been around 20+ years so he must be doing something right. I've never had a problem with any thing he's done. I believe he is making his own cranks now with japanese bearings also.

I think it's all just luck isn't it? Every crank out there will fail under the right (wrong) circumstances so it's more just a matter of checking what you have when you get it I think. I would generally lean towards oem, but then again, I put together a beater surf engine with a Jetmaniac crank, and that thing has some serious hours on it now. It's always the way....the engine you don't care about holds up great, yet the one you drop the dollars into fails!

Personally, check what you have when you get it...if it's out of spec, send it back. I've always wondered...if you have a welded crank, can you still replace the big end bearings and the rods if you need to? I've run plenty of welded cranks, but never had to do any maintenance on them.

You have to grind the welds off and re weld after rebuild and truing. The trueness needs to be checked after welding as many times they will pinch a tiny bit from the welding.

It sure appears like the consensus is oem is better. With moisture even an oem rusts and pits in the bearing surfaces and thats what makes things go out.

I've decided to run a used OEM crank. It's in great shape and I'm going to get my original rebuilt by Competitive Cranks out in Cali. You'll see me in "carnage" if it goes south on me.
