Crankshaft issue

I bought a 1997 superjet with 61x cylinders on a 6m6 case (not preferred engine but got a good price on ski). It ran great for the first 30 gallons of fuel then I lost all low end power. I started disassembling the motor to find the rear dome chewed up, so I figured something broke.

Further digging into the motor i found what broke. Not exactly sure what it is called but believe it is a connecting rod shim or thrust washer. It is the gold spacer on the sides of the connecting rod where it connects to the crankshaft.

My question is can this be fixed or do I need a whole new crankshaft? Also what is the missing/broken piece called? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That, sir, is a thrust washer. It's actually a bearing to control axial loads in the crankshaft (it controls the side-to-side motion of your rod lower end).

Sad to report a crankshaft rebuild is required as is the case for any component failure within the crankshaft assembly. Sorry.

Just get a rebuild crank from Sbt, WSM or a new AM one from hot rods. Not to bad on price from Sbt. If the cylinders look ok just go with maybe a fresh hone and new pistons

Don't cheap out on a crank. I would choose a clean used oem over any of those. There's a reason they last over a decade and still go strong when taken care of. My sbt just lasted 3 seasons and took out my top end with it. It all depends on if you're on a tight budget and if you think the motor is worth putting good money into.

True but buying used stuff can be scary if your not use to looking for certain things. Can have it rebuilt by crankworks. They are very good but it's a timely situation. Not slow but not as fast as just making a phone call. All depends on budget n how much your going to ride it I guess
