I was puttin the motor back together, and noticed the slot that lines the flywheel up on the crank is gone. Looks like a piece that is just pressed in there. Please tell me this is easy to replace. :frown:

Ahhh, that would be the "woodruff key" you are missing. I would check on the magnet in the flywheel, it might be there. Make sure it isn't on the stator or loose in there. It will make a mess.

Good to hear. :arms: I was worried I'd broke it when I took the flywheel off. Looks like theres a little metal down in the slot. Probably fell out somewhere in the garage. I looked but couldn't find it. Anybody got one laying around. I was hoping to go riding this weekend. :banghead:

I checked Riva's site and bikebandit.com for a part number, and it's not listed.

You'll want the exact size.

Matt's right. Your local yamaha dealer will have one for 4.00 give or take. You could run it with an incorrect key w/the possibility of your timing being off a few degrees. The key only indexes the flywheel. The taper is what holds it.

Give any motor builder a call...Chuckie, Paul, Art, etc...they likely have some extras laying about.

I have one ordered through the dealer. I searched after I found out what it was called, but couldn't find any measurements listed. I don't trust my harborfreight micrometers that much to measure that slot in the crank. If the motor wasn't already in the hull I would've take the whole thing to the hardware store. I did see in one thread about hardware store keys breaking though.
