Crappy shipping packing

Holy crap, how hard is it to wrap a part that you are selling bubble wrap to ship it?!?!
This is almost expected buying off eBay, but from one member here to another?

I recently bought a coil, seller made $4 on his inflated shipping charge and it is just thrown in a flat rate envelope. No scrap of newspaper or bubblewrap or anything to pad it.

I also recently bout $700 worth of parts, shipped together. ONE piece of bubble wrap on the top and rest of parts are in loosly wrapped newspaper bouncing around inside the box. What is 1 piece of bubble wrap on the top gonna do?

As an example of how it should be done:
I also recently bout a set of lightly used pistons from #0 on here. This man knows how to package parts for shipment. Wrapped tight in bubble wrap and wrapped tape over than, then more bubble wrap in the box around the wrapped parts. A delivery guy could have drop-kicked the box all the way here and the parts would have still been perfect.

This site needs a sticky post on how to package parts for shipping.

I recieved an RC car one time in a square box (just square enough to tumble around inside) that the truck, the remote and a couple batteries where just tossed in with one 10"x15" sheet of small bubble, bubble wrap. I'm not sure why he even wasted the time to throw that in, like he though it would help?

M&M Marine (the PWC junkyard) shipped me a cowl for a Kawi STS. Just tossed in a huge box, no packing material at all. Considering the prices this guy charges for old crap sitting in a scrap heap, you'd think he could at least afford some newspaper. And, yeah, it was busted when I got it.

Yea I bought a B2 cowling form a dude in Fl (no one on this board) He put it in a card board box, with no packaging. yea It showed up at my door with a hole in the box and busted up.

I wouldnt blame it on the shipper but the guy selling the part which is most likely the same guy that packaged it up. Crappy Packaging Guy.

I recently bought a set of carbs and the seller said he had just rebuilt them including the throttle shafts and he never put the seal on the end of the throttle shaft non drum side and i can see fuel pour out the side of the carbs when i pump the primer sweet deal

Never, NEVER buy used jetski parts that you cannot inspect first. You will have better odds playing the lotto. Always use a CC for protection. I once bought a nice looking case and cyl on ebay, requested two boxes and payed extra for them. Sure enough one big box with case and cyl thrown together, both parts destroyed. Seller was upset with my chargeback, called me every name in the book.

I recently received a 750sx pole, the guy didn't even box it. Brought it to the usps they labeled it and shipped it. The best part is knowing the pole was slightly cracked at the top so what does the shipper do, puts a little packaging tape around it and calls it good.

I've gotten fed up with used parts as well. I got tired of used starters and bendixes and throttle cables and steering cables and a bunch of other stuff.
I prefer to buy new now.

although its interesting to note many on here are so busy trying to get a deal that they dont want to pay even the shipping costs but expect an a1 packing job

i have sold items on here where the shipping is almost half the cost and people will try and negotiate down, i recently had a 61x flywheel and stator shipped for $100, i was offered $75 shipped, the shipping cost is at least $25 from canada, id rather keep it cos it will cost me more to buy one if i needed it

i always pack my parts as well as i can, which sometimes means the box will be bigger or heavier, which then means the shipping cost goes up, and i eat the extra $$

rarely will anyone pay for packaging, but then are very happy to complain if the parts are packaged to their satifaction

even when i shipped a hull, the guy who was buying it did not really want to pay for materials for a crate, nor did they want it too heavy (for shipping costs), im also not a carpenter or crate builder and suggested that they ask the shipping company to do it, (thats what i did when i shipped my superjet and trailer from the uk to canada, it cost me $2500 for the crate and shipping, it got to me in perfect condistion) they did not want to pay that, they did in the end give me a token amount for the crate, but i also spent alot of time building it, plus using other materials i already had on top of the $200 in timber

this week i sent out a drive shaft, i didnt have an adequate box or any bubble wrap left, so when i was asked for the shipped cost i broke it down into the price for the part, the packing and the shipping cost plus pay pal fees, the buyer was more than happy to accept these prices, if i have to buy shipping materials i will buy just what i need for that package and keep the receipt

just something to think about is that packaging materials are not free

x2ryder does a kick-ass packing job. Just received a box this morning.

X2 some people know what they are doing. #0 also packs and ships very well. I have had some bad shippers though a few times

I bought an oem wear ring and two K&N flame arrestors. Showed up a wsm wear ring and nothing to cushion it in the box. Wouldn't you know the wear ring went through the top of a flame arrestor.

I recently bought a new OEM crank off ebay. It showed up with a hole in the box and the crank hanging out. luckily my ups guy knows me well and said he took care of it once he got it. Hopefully it didn't get too banged up on the conveyer belt before that though.

wow. yet he paid for delivery confirmation. I'm surprised the post office even let him ship it like that.
