XFR has a slightly different feel. You have to stay on top of it. The FR2 is easier to control at higher speed. I chose the XFR because I live about 4 hrs from Pismo, I can take it to San Francisco Bay to flip the wind swells. They are both fun skis, but have their own personalities. I hope this helps.
