It does have an OEM spring, the pole is as light as a feather, and yes It does stay upright for fueling.

cool....i didnt have a spring onhand when I did mine...I honestly cant believe how light thej pole feels without it...but it wont stay upright and Im done with pole that make the top of my head bleed
