Custome Pole

Has anyone made their own pole? I was thinking of making it out of two aluminum tubes and reinforce it. and use some of the stock stuff on it. It for a 90' SJ 650. I'm thinking of weight loss here, and don't know which would be lighter.

Yes, there are a bunch of guys here that have built their own handlepoles. If you do a good job it can be lighter and more durable than a stock SN pole.

There are a couple sweet tubular poles on here. And even a couple sheetmetal style ones. Hardest part would be the steering mount, but anyone with fab skills should be able to come up with something. Post up what you come up with!

I got the fab skills to do it, I am thinking I'm going to do it when I get home from Italy.

What is the advantage to a shorter pole?

How much would you guys shorten a SJ pole?

I could only find one homemade pole under search, I would be happy with some links..

Thanks guys.

Hey Penken, no it's not mine, it's a guys from 707 in AK. I have a IQ similar though and am also waiting on a 2010 RS. I will be racing again this year for CSRA.

Here's one I kinda liked: http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/50275

here's another for a 650SX, but still neat: http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/50598

There is also a "Goose" pole. If you search, it should show up. He's made them for a few people on here.

Length depends on how big you are and your riding style. I took 5 inches of my roundnose pole on my SN. You hear of lot of people going 2 to 4". You can also play with different bars and steering setups to change the length.
