Super Jet Cutting and welding a driveshaft?

As the title says can you cut and weld a drive shaft. My old shaft broke and i have a new shaft from a vxr and I was wondering if they could cut and weld it down to the proper length.

Just cut it down and get it resplined. It's the safer route to go.
