Super Jet Cylinder swap - 701 62t for 701 61x

I picked up a 94 Wave Raider with a 62t case and 701 62t cylinder. Can I simply pull the cylinder and replace it with a 701 61x cylinder?

Also, I looked online at Yamaha OEM parts finder and see the head for a 94 Wave Raider and (let's say) a 96 Superjet have different part numbers for their heads. Do I need to use a head from a 61x cylinder or can I use the head from the 62t Wave Raider?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can install the 61x cylinder onto the raider cases. If you are using stock Superjet exhaust, you'll need to use a 61 X head because of the mounting bosses location on top of the head. If aftermarket exhaust you can use either head.

Are you using it in the raider or an SJ? If in a Raider you need to drill out and retap for the larger T exhaust mani bolts (I think it's 10x1.25)

Good point, but I picked it up as a parts machine so I could have a extra motor lying around.

It was a Craigslist find. $500 for the ski plus trailer with title. Checked compression first and it was 145/145 :)

Tore out the pump last night and was surprised it had a Skat Trak super slimline 14.5-18.5 in it. Deciding whether to send it to Impros to have it cleaned up and use in one of my Blasters or just try to sell it as is.

Pulled the motor this evening and this thing is immaculate (love freshwater skis).

Not only is the motor in great shape, I found what's left of five dollars and ninety-one cents in the fire extinguisher tube :)
Gonna check with the bank tomorrow and see if they'll give me a fresh new fiver for this old girl.

I hear ya. If it was a theme park ride it would definitely be the rollercoaster. At the moment we're slowly being winched up. Pretty sure that will be followed by a rapid plunge with screaming (Wax and I lamenting the increased cost of parts purchases)
