D cut ride plate for kawi 550

Whats up guys just started the sport got myself a stock 550 which is actually in mint condition I rode it once at the lake then two weeks ago at pismo and im hooked somebody recomended the D cut on my ride plate is ther a special measurement or somethin like how deep and wide?? thanks guys

Congrats on the new addiction. Heres a pic of some d cut plates a guy had on here for sale to give you a idea http://www.x-h2o.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=73187&d=1231826585 . I think its a paint can size, maybe a quart? Are you trying to lighten the front more for tricks? When you cut your plate its gonna make your skis nose stay in the air. Ive never run one, but most freestyle guys like them. If your just learning to ride i'd stick with stock or maybe a extended ride plate. Be careful around here, this is superjet country....

I would never d-cut a plate on a 550. They ride & balance way different than an sj, sxr, or whatever else. They're all trying to accomplish what you already have, an easier way to get the nose of the ski up. As long as you use your body lean & ride in the back of the tray, you shouldn't have any issues. If you do d-cut the plate, I couldn't see how you would ever get the nose down enough to actually maneuver and ride around.

dont d-cut a 550, tried it. Its not good, also dont knock the rear corners off. Just ride it and get addicted and save up for a superjet

if you want a d cut plate I have one you can have just pay shipping, it was a stocker that I cut. you want to take your ride plate with ya when you test it out, cause youll quickly swap back to a noncut one.

how much is the shipping i have to see my buddy might have an extra one.. ya i got it down on flat water but i went out to pismo and one of the pros out ther told me to do it so being a rookie i figured it was a good idea i'll just try the stock out for now ya im not trying to pump up the 550 too much just a started just to get used to the ocean then i'll get a yamaha
