As some of you know, i'm new to surf riding so please don't bash me for my ignorance?:dunno:

I'm assuming a d-cut is a semi round cut out just below the nozzle? Should the ends be flush with the back of the ski? If not, how far can the ends stick out? :thinkerg: And wont the nozzle be exposed too much?:scratchchin:

When i bought this ski it came with 2 extra rideplates, the stock one and another flat one just a little longer. I have a jigsaw and can experament with both but i want you guys to point me in some direction. :1zhelp: :1zhelp:

make it even with the back of the ski. a gallon can of paint makes a nice simi-circle template for the d cut

What's the best ride plate for the rough surf?

So far I've tried a R&D Rius Racing long plate that works great on the flat water but in the surf the rear end rides too high and it's not stable in the surf. The Worx Dominator long version rides similar to the Rius Plate but weighs about two pounds more. The Riva Groovy works pretty well in the surf but it's almost the same as stock and weighs a lot more.

Are there any light weight carbon fiber plates that work extremely well in the surf?

watercraft factory makes a lightweight c/f plate and he can cut it however you want it at no extra $$.

That watercraft factory ride plate looks like a good deal for the money.

Do you know how much that thing weighs, just curious?

I find a D-cut stock plate works wonders. Combine that with some tubbies, and you have a boat that handles nice, and can easily flick/slide the tail when needed.

I also find that things like nose stabs require very little effort and the tail pops from the wave really nice. Carving up a wave is really nice, and theres nothing like coming straight into a wave, giving a quick blip to slide the tail and smashing the crap out of the lip while you continue to ride along the wave.

I've been racing with a stock D-cut ride plate as well, as I found that going back to the long plate made the ski straighten up too much. This wouldn't be a problem if I spent an even amount of time with each plate!

D-CUT is a great mod for surfriding. I noticed a huge difference in how the ass end would sink in more and carve much better. Much more control over quick turns and throwing more water too... I love it!!! Also, combined w/ the Tubbie II's... It makes a great surf setup

OK, i'm going for it. Bust out the jigsaw.

This weekend i'll be back in town and i'll modify the plate and get an extra nozzle for a spare, just in case.
