300/440/550 Dakine Footstraps on a 550

Any suggestions on where and how to install dakine foot straps on my 85 550? im 6'5" with a size 14. I will only be riding flat water.

Its really just personal preference, go ride and note your foot position. Everyone is a little different. They can always be moved later with new inserts.

i would recommend foot holds over straps for a few reasons:

having holds will widen your stance on the very skinny js tray and if you have to bail you can easily get your feet out of the holds

Hes right but I had straps on my 440 and loved them just try not to put them to close together in the tray ...like side by side bad idea the straps will be fine at first but when u get water on them and they srink ur feet will be hard to fit in them I would say strong foot strap in back on bottom of tray and the other one mount one side a lil in front on tray and one side on rail ..but its up to u just dont side by side trust me

I would do foot holds in the back and put a strap on the front for when you ride surf stance....

thank you so much for the advice, im glad you told me not to go side by side Hodges cuz i was thinking about it lol i think im just gonna sell or trade it up im done dumping money into the 550. btw have you seen the "LOL" sticker with obama sunset for the "O"? so awesome! haaha

Go footholds... it makes a huge difference... im 6' 4" 210 and the extra width is awesome. Also gives you more control as you can tilt the hull with your legs... great subs too.

We are sorta in the same 'hood aren't we. Where do you usually ride? I like to ride in fresh water... Much less hassle.

I did the footholds and turf myself. The footholds were $115 and the turf about $90. It's a bit of a job to do but not rocket science at all. I'd never done it before. Here's some pics of the install...

bump. can I ask rwilliamtaylor where you bought those footholds from? I'm thinking of molding my own out of fiberglass or carbon and i was hoping to try and get some dimensions on a foothold like yours. otherwise I'm going to go with foot straps because they are easier to install and less $$$

They are xscream bogies. I bought them from xscream about 4 years ago.
