Dammitt Butti!

Dirtbike ride went awry last night.......John's rear wheel washed out in come coquina and down he went

Chuck got him to the hospital, we rescued the bikes and went to see him..It was pretty much a worst case scenario (although as always, it could have been worse)

Broken Femur.

Full thickness break with approx 2" overlap of the bones.......Im pretty sure they got him reduced already(bones realigned)..as he has been in traction all morning

He goes in for surgery today at 1

I talked to him last night at the hospital post morphine and he was chatty and laughing. I guess the hospital ran out of morphine and today he is not in as good of spirits...Word is he'll be in the hospital til monday or so and no walking for 3-4 months :censored:

Going to try and get over to see him post-op and we'll get some pix!

Feel better buddy!!!!!!!!

Well, good recovery John.

You guys....I always toy with the idea of getting a dirtbike, but posts like these make me think twice.

fast recovery. i am with you matt, the more of this i see the less i want one.

dont fear the dirt-sicles. you could get hurt in your own bathtub.

for the record I have been messed up far worse on bicycles than on motorcycles and have been riding both for about the same amount of time.

I think it was a tongue-in-cheek comment. Reality & pain have probably set in, plus if he's going in for surgery they are probably not pushing pain meds as much.

lol..nope, they really did run out! :banghead:

yeah, but its all relative.......when I said the rear wheel washed out, well..that was the only wheel that was touching the ground..you do the math :noevil:

Hope you are feeling better soon man. I'll call over the weekend & see how it's going. Hopefully you'll be fully healed in time for the fall/winter surf.
Someone send me the link when wifey puts the bike on craigslist. :nutkick:

That sux big time. Hope you get better soon John! Like posted before by others, I've been thinking about a bike but realize 3-4 months out of work could be very detrimental to my livelihood. Means I would be one broke ass bietch. I'm really sorry to hear this. Femur break is no fun at all.

thanks for all the kind words guys, that stuff really helps keep my attitude positive:Banane35:

ill try to get my hands on the x-rays.when i came in last nite my right leg was 2in shorter than the left because the bones were overlapping.they put me in traction over nite and i had surgery today at 1:00.they put a 14in rod into my femur thru the knee.the upside to that is there will be no cast.they said tomorrow physical therapy will come and brig me a walker.i cant freakin wait! today i got in trouble for getting up from bed but it was worth it,it felt great to get off my ass for a minute.

wow! dillaudin is some heavy duty ********!
