Dasa 1000 with 10 mill stroker and power factory pipe reliable motor for surf?

Looking into buying a basically new rickter edge with a Dasa 1000, 10 mill stroker with a power factory pipe...
I know it's more power than I need in the surf bit it's a good deal...
Is this motor set up a good reliable setup? No head aches?
I know to check power valves in occasion..
I know OEM is the most reliable..
I'm not a pro rider but I'm not afraid of power.. just not sure if it's practical, even for the good deal I can get for this RTR ski
Any well knowledge info would be greatly appreciated thanks

Same engine we have in our XFS, runs great, very dependable. Dasa says the 1000 is the best combo for power and dependability. Don't use oil with caster oil in it.

Before I purchased the engine I had a lot of questions, here's a response from Dasa on how many hours before rebuilding things.
"We recommend around 60hrs to replace wrist pin bearings and pins. That seems to be the weakest link. We have people go way over that but that is our safe recommendation. Compression testing will be the best way for rings etc... Crank rebuild, somewhere around 120hrs. Like before, we have customers that go way over that..."

That being said, we don't ride surf and an Edge in surf is way different type of riding compared to an XFS on flat water. Seems like I see way more Edge's with 701's in them.

As with any dry pipe keeping sand out of the chamber and keeping the pipe stable but not too rigid to prevent cracking would be priority. Triple cooling might be a good idea for extra insurance. Two into the manifold and one into the pipe with strainer and restrictor for controlling temp. That's just my general understanding, I have only ever run a bpipe on a moderate 701 in the surf so I'm sure there are more experienced people here to give advice.

Keep 2 sets of vice grips/hose Pinchers on board in case you need a tow. Don't want to risk flooding your motor if you break down.

Jason just don't.....

It's not just a little bit more power.... you need to ride an edge with a dasa 1000 before you just decide your gonna buy one. Edges are twitchy, then you kick a big motor behind it and that tray is gonna slip out from under you.

For what its worth Im in the process of pulling my perfect running very reliable TPE964 out of my edge. I had this engine in my FP1 for over a year and it was safe enough but in an edge with 155 pump it was a monster. Loved it for a few weeks till I flat lander so bad I broke my leg. If its a great deal get it and stash the motor away. Really like the skis handling and look forward to a more basic setup (till I get bored).....

Just looked at where you are from in Oregon. Used to work out there years ago in Beaverton. If you are in big surf, bigger motors and pumps can be tough if you dont have a lot of experience. I liked mine for the small surf we get here in NY. Mostly wind driven slop, so i needed that quick hit to make it work. If you are riding bigger clean surf, normal motors and 148 pumps seem to work best for 90% of us.

Ive ridden 2 edges with similar setups. Dasa 1000 in one, Dasa 1100 in the other. To much go juice. And those motors dont like to just be putted around. You quickly find yourself hanging on, not focusing on riding. plus with the PFP its going to be extra snappy.

Thanks guys...
I appreciate your input..
I was told those edges are a bit twitchy by a few of you guys....
I don't want to deal with a bunch.of extra maintenance either... ..Sooooo....smaller non power valve motor I will go regardless of what hull.....yes I will have a ski soon x2mafia...hahaha..it's been taking me too long...

i have an fr2 evo and absolutely love my dasa 850 powerva lve motor, i have a b pipe and it hits plenty hard for me, the added power from a 701 is great, and still controllable.
