Custom/Hybrid DASA 850 questions????

hey guys im looking into getting a DASA 850 for a stock superjet (ill put a factory pipe on when i put in the 850) and i have a few questions. first will stock yamaha carbs work with this engine (i know they will need adjustment)? as far as ignition goes will the superjet flywheel magneto and ebox transfer over or do i need to get a enhancer or total loss setup?
thanks,
Jeff

I'm sure you can make the OEM carbs work with this setup bur equally sure it would benefit from some bigger carbs. The electrics will transfer across no problem.

I'm running that engine now. Ur electrics will b fine. Direct swap, but don't skimp out if u can swing an AM ignition. Get urself atleast an Epic or Msd enhancer and a lightened oem flywheel from #zero or grab a second gen TBM flywheel. I went to a MSD TL this year and that was what really woke this engine up. Also, u can run the 38's but ur choking that engine. It wants more air and u need some bigger carbs. Ur throttle response will be wicked with 38's but overall the engine will be limited with those carbs. Sbn 44 or 46's can be had reasonably...or go for some Novi's or blackjacks.

Jeff,

We've sold quite a few of these with everyone running at least dual 44's on their set up. I know they have had success running the single manifolds from either ATP or RIVA however it does have a noticeable decrease in power. SBN 46's seem to work pretty good with the DASA or Boyeseen Intake. Try at minimum to at least run an MSD or Epic with a lightweight flywheel. Just use the machined ones, they work great. For the pumps you will be able to run a stock pump, yes Mag's help but it might not be in the budget. These motors really like to be propped down, try a 9/17 big hub with a tbm or even a 12/17. On exhaust all that is needed is a bpipe. You should be happy with the results. Feel free to ask any other questions or give us a call.

ok so let me ask this i have a bunch of mikuni 44's in the garage would it make more sense to use a 44 since i already have a set or is it noticeably diffrent if i were to jump to a 46? also when you say machined light weight flywheel how does one tell the difference for example is the blowsion lightweight charging flywheel machined??

The cheapest route is a zero lightweight flywheel, just send your flywheel down to him, Chris is a great guy and will make sure you're all set. If you already have a set of 44's bolt them on and try it, of course a larger carb will help to some extent but you should be fine with the 44's. There is a difference between trying to get the most out of an ss 850 or trying to build one on a budget. However either way we think you'll be pretty happy with the performance.
