Dasa 864 SS

I just bought a dasa 864 SS second hand out of Arizona. It had too low of compression for my likings so I decided to just go ahead and put a fresh top end in it. The gentleman bought it from Kommander as an 850SS ported by Kyle at dasa. He advertised it as being an 850 original bore so I snagged it up. Went to order Pistons and decided to measure bore just for fun and they were 90mm, not 89mm so it's actually an 864. I also noticed that it had a shim in between two base gaskets which I also thought was strange. I'm sure it was to achieve the right squish but changing that from the base affects port timing. The original owner has been more than helpful with answering any questions I've had and is trying to locate the original emails between himself and kommander to see if there was a miscommunication or something.

So my friends, my question is does anyone know their squish height and port height measurements for an 850SS ported for freestyle? I'm feeling a little sketched out about it and want everything to be correct the first time.

I found another post on here from a few years ago that included many different 850ss setups but base gasket thickness and squish height were never mentioned. The gasket shim could have been necessary to achieve proper port timing for this cylinder setup but I am no dasa (or jet ski) expert by any means. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
I'm no engine builder but I'm pretty certain your going to get proper "squish" dimension with them gaskets combined. your right tho, and i agree if i never saw an engine run, are the gaskets the right ones. exhaust port height should be factored in already. hopefully someone chimes in. Give dasa racing a call and talk to kyle.

I'm running an 850ss in my surf ski. Using single dasa base gasket.
I will. I spoke with the other guy, Kevin I guess it was and he gave me Kyle's email. I want to be 100% sure that I'm getting ALL the right parts because I don't want to work on this thing for a month. I want to ride haha.

I know and have ridden with this engine. Seller is a great guy who would never do something wrong knowingly. Kommander on the other hand has lost almost its entire AZ customer base due to bad dealings. We'll just shake our heads and say "doesn't suprise us" when I bring this up.
 
It had gasket sealer beneath the gasket/shim whatever the hell it was, which caught my attention. I immediately knew something wasn't right then when I scraped it off I noticed the epoxy was done incorrectly. I have since redone the epoxy and machined down the sealing surface to ensure full sealing contact for the base gasket. I ordered the correct parts from dasa (still waiting for them to charge my card and ship it for some reason). I wasn't going to hop on here and name bash Kommander because although I felt like the original owner was being honest, I didn't have proof of who had done the original work. Called Kyle at dasa, gave him the cylinder numbers. He did the porting on the cylinders themselves but that's it. The cylinder kit was sold to Kommander alone. No cases. So whoever did the cases did a crummy job. Thanks to Paul Lehr and his wisdom I'm on the home stretch of addressing all of the issues and getting it going in the correct manner.
 
And it could be very possible that this was not a shim that I was seeing but instead the dasa base gasket that others had described. The paper peeled right off so I thought it was a shim especially when I measured squish height and it was way too high. I talked to Kyle and he told me what the measurement should be for my particular domes and we were able to decide that these domes had since been modified so that I would be in need of new ones(the correct ones.)
