DASA announcement

Well....

Funny you should ask. I had conversations about this very subject with a couple dealers this week. I didn't pursue it any further based on the response.

Kinda complicated answer. DASA/Lamey/Racers Edge has for a some time(20 years) offered full motor building(and dyno) capabilities and components. We have ALWAYS relied on word of mouth, more or less, marketing. Our custumers for years have always brought endless business to keep Dan and Kyle busy, but with the addition of myself(and three more CNC machines) and other employees, with Dan's entry into the ATV market, alot of people think we have "gone away" so to speak.

This couldn't be farther from the truth. Any of you that truely "know" Dan or know of him, know that he is a pretty low key guy and not really "in anyone's face". The internet is a dynamic that we have largely ignored because of this fact. I have tried to bring us into the limelight once again after I pushed to develop the billet cylinder and bring us, what I thought, back into the forefront of the PWC market.

The Lamey in it's own right, is and still works awesome, but the public by and large, in their eyes, in the internet age, hasn't observed any "real" innovation in years, it seems like we have fallen behind.

Well that is a little off subject....

Back on topic.

The decision was made that it isn't truely fair to compete with our dealers who do offer "Lamey" engine building services. We decided not to advertise that we can provide it. It may hurt us, it may not. But the truth is we do still do it, we always have. We do offer "turn key" engines and components. We even have a complete engine assembly like you are talking about in the shop right now, the only one left of the three motors we had on display at the World Finals this year.

Brian

Brian, it would be cool for us all to have something to dream about, how bout a complete engine, add fuel system, exhaust system, and ignition, then drop it in and goooooooooooo big. Are u/Lamey willing to assemble/ship a complete engine? ie 951BB w/your billet cases and a crazy stroke crank. IF I remember correctly, 2800 for cases, 2800 for top end kit, 1300ish for crank? So that gets the total to 6900.00ish, add new t/l for 1200.00, B pipe for 700.00, and 2 48 carbs and manifold for approx 2000.00=10,800.00 plus labor for assembly in a oem hull should =flat water flipper fo sho!!!

Just wanted to let you guys know DASA will be offering our small bore stock stroke and stroker 7 port cylinder in a kit form just like we offer our 5 port big bore cylinder.

Brian

I will be in the market for a stock stroke before to long and I am a little confused about what is what.

What is the difference between the small bore stock stroke 7 port cylinder and a 5 port big bore cylinder? Does the big bore come in a stock stroke? Other than the ports is it the size that makes it a big bore or a small bore? What size range does the small bore come in? What size range does the big bore come in? Thanks!!

That is what I am here for.

The 7 port small bore is basically an updated version of the original cast Lamey. The range of the bore starts out at around 85MM and goes up to around 89MM. Sorry, I don't handle the final boring, I will find out tommorrow and post the exact info.

The "big bore 5 port" will not work with any stroke smaller than 6MM. This basically has to do with the pistons we use, the rod length and with the piston skirt causing free-porting. The big bore starts out somewhere around 89 and goes up around 90-somethingMM.

With the 5 port cylinder, Dan felt that the extra port was unneeded with the bigger piston. He wanted more port volume.

The 7 port needs the extra port for the smaller piston.

Does that help any?

Ask away if I didn't say enough.

Brian

Now that I have your answer, here is my point-

If you were to conact supplier/builder Joe Blow, a turn key big bore stroker ski would run you approx 20,000.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A person can take their oem hull RN that they have about 3000.00 tied up in and drop in your engine package and be about 14,000.00-15,000.00 total in their ski and have a ski capable of any flatwater trick know to man kind at this point!!! I for one am excited about ALL the innovation that has popped up this year!!! This shows me that the sport is not a dead as some may think.

Interesting fact ! and based on Dan's years of experience and knowledge of cylinder development, I would believe this to be a solid fact.

One more interesting fact; if you look at a SD 951 cylinder, you'll noticed about the same size boost port . The 951 also uses 89+mm pistons and I'm quite sure SD did their homework before they developed the cylinder!

Parts available to all? :cool2:

Sorry about that,

haha, bud I covered you online as well as on the phone.

It is too bad that your dynamic wasn't going to work out for the both of us. There is nothing I could do for you.

Either way, maybe some day we'll work something out....or not.

...and this has nothing to do with this thread.

Im thinking that one of these small bore one will be in my future
I have a cast one now and its working well but the cc limit is 1100 and my cast will not go that high
Does the power valve actuator sit lower on the billet ones helping you fit your pipe under

No worries, I was just curious if this announcement only applied to the chosen few you deem worthy, and have the correct "dynamic". Haha!

You are misguided my friend.

I have no control over DASA's sales, that is not my yob.(job)

...but either way, again, your consternation has nothing to do with this thread.

Pal, how old do you think I am?

I can trade jabs with you anytime. How far do you want to go? I merely accepted your challenge. Then you want to go and backpedal?

You are pissed off I wouldn't sell you a case, so what? I told you my reasons, several times. You must have some com-pre-hen-sion problems I guess. If you are so unconcerned about my concerns, ask yourself why I should be so worried about yours.

It is nice to see a guys character who was all buddy-buddy when he wanted something though.

Always trust your gut.....

Let me know when you want to head out like a baby bud. I can be loaded up and trucking in a half hour.

It is good to be King sometimes.

you'll have to excuse carbonjet, he tends to get kinda worked up. you should look at all his posts about his ski that no one has ever seen.
