DASA service experience

Just wanted to share my experience with Dasa for anyone wondering how an Engine manufacturer will treat you after you buy an engine. I have heard a lot of horror stories about various engine makers and am pleased to share that my experience was not one of them. I bought a new 1100 from one of Dasa's vendors at the end of last year. My build was finished in May of 2016 and after 6-8 hours the engine blew up. Its unclear what happened. Many hands were on this engine along the way so really tough to figure out where the issue originated. What I really wanted to share was the excellent service that Dasa has provided me since this incident. They did full rebuild and were very responsive and great to deal with. An engine maker can always say "well, water got in there" and walk away from you in this sport but I was pleasantly surprised that Dasa didn't take that approach. It sucks to be sidelined for any technical stuff but in high performance motorsports its gonna happen so its always nice to be working with a good manufacturer to help you get up and running again. Cheers for Dasa in my book!

Your one stop shop for quality parts @highspeedind
Nicole is awesome. I've been dealing with her before she worked at dasa.

It's a bit of a bummer that Kyle doesn't work there anymore, but he works two door over and is still in the industry. At least he hasn't gone far. Lol

I can second that top post..

I live in Europe, and had a identical engine purchase, new, from one of DASA's vendors. It blew up as well after 8.1h of use. I choose not to send it overseas, due to the multiple factors of it getting it lost in the mail, back and forth, DASA not covering the carnaged, or customs charging me for the engine again.
I had a third party builder inspect the engine for me in europe, who previously had dealings with DASA, and relay what he found to DASA. To my surprice DASA came through and covered parts needed for a rebuild.

Perhaps they knew what went wrong in that batch of engines - and for what its worth, the fault was found in the cylinder.

But eventually DASA did come through, even thou I have to finance the rebuild labor myself, its better than financing it all... But still cost me half the season without an engine :(

For what it's worth, Dasa has been good at handling other situations with me as well. I only mention this because of your concern about that particular batch of engines having cylinder problems. I'm not ruling that out either but I do believe that Dasa will stand by their product as reasonably as any motor company can. I sympathize for the position that engine makers are in because they have no way of knowing who is actually using and installing their product and in high performance applications even experienced people can blow up motors. There are just so many different things that can go wrong and diagnosing the problem (short of throwing unmixed 87 pump gas in) can be very challenging. I'm not suggesting you did anything wrong in your case, Im only pointing out that I think a company like Dasa could get away with being less willing to work with people but I don't believe that would be the "right" way for them to handle their clients. It sounds like you were taken care of in the end and I'm glad to hear that!
