SXR DASA short engine block

Anyone have experience with the +4mm short block DASA engine listed on DASA's website (for $5815) as a starting point for an engine build? My 06 SXR's guts are going into another ski's build and I wish to put in a new or A/M motor to the 06 hull. A HP motor for speed and racing. In other words, I don't have cases, top end, carbs, exhaust for my 06, and I want to build from the ground up.

I've checked this forum for other engine builders, but have not seen many more builders.
Lehr Performance Watercraft: website no longer active
Jet Works: only found a dealership/shop in England via web search
Xmetal: nothing for SXR, plenty of SJ choices

Other suggestions?

Nice avatar Rizk :)

Just googled "thrust", "thrust pwc", "thrust engines", nothing helpful came up. Do you have a phone# or web address?

Just checked Thrust Innovations. Good choices and plenty of DASA based engines. They seem SJ based, but I suppose I can't be too picky. I'd like to build a motor that is Kawi based, to stay true to the boat's roots. I'll follow up with Thrust for their opinions, but another thought: how about get some Kawi cases from fleabay, top end from anyone, and build up a crank from a machine shop? From what I've read about race skis used at Havasu, racers are starting with OEM cases and building from there versus using a full on billet motor. Granted, racing rules probably require using an OEM based motor, but since I am not intending to race competitively, I can go either way. In the grand scheme of things, is OEM and building up... or billet A/M... a better way to approach getting a motor going?

I will. As well as Kommander Industries, Rius Racing, JSU, etc. I was wondering about anyone having specific experience with the DASA short block. Experience as in, "its in my boat and it works". I realize my follow up questions deviate from my original question. So I'll just start calling and getting sales-speak. My budget for motor alone can be about $8K. I think that makes most choices out there possible. I will go back to the search feature to look up "SXR engine". Thanks.

PM TOBTEK, he is on this board as well as PWC today, we built him a 4mm 85 bore billet cylinder using his cases. Said it was too much power for his old ass haha.

I would use factory new if it were me, I wouldnt buy used cases, factory kawi cases are just too cheap.

I believe we have everything in stock, I would have to ask Kyle about a crank.

I dont do kawi billet cases yet. I want too, there just isnt enough interest to warrant building them.

call the shop when you get some feedback, talk to Kyle. 951-681-1131. He can answer any of your technical questions.

I assure you, you won't get the "sales speak" at DASA, we will answer any of your questions and let you decide for yourself.

Think I may have what your looking for. Dasa built me this, Its without a doubt the most incredibe boat I've ever riddin. Its power is very linear and endless! The guy's (a one girl) at Dasa have been great to work with. Keith and Kyle even took time from work and met me at a local lake to dial this boat in. Rejetting the carbs, tweeking screws, temp readings off the pipe and motor.....good expereance all around!
The SAD fact is im retiring to the Sport Class on the track. Just cant do more then a few Laps before my old back and legs are on fire.
This motor is DIALED in, and has three MAYBE four tanks of gas through it. its all but brand new, and I keep my toys flawless.

you know the price of the motor up at Dasa....they are the better part of $6000.00 PLUS,PLUS.

IF you jump on this, I will get you the full motor including Billet stator cover from Brian at SB Products, starter motor, bendix, stator, flywheel.....complete!

ALL FOR $4899.00 plus shipping and PayPal fee's. (will ship TODAY ! no waiting )

And I have the brandnew Novi 48's on the R&D Mani with Pro-k's, I'll make you a deal on.

give me a call at 760-638-3810 or email at TOBYZAC@YAHOO.com let get you rippin.
