Dave Laude now employed

hey guys,

I just saw one of the other more recent threads that had a name and who the guy was now riding for (or something like that) so I decided to title my thread similarly. You probably don't even recognize the name, but that's me. Yes, after graduating college in december '07 I FINALLY got a job (although an attempt to live the dream is a legitimate excuse to put off a job for a few months...). That means after just couple months I'll be able to pay my parents back for my '95 Mustang GT that the graciously fronted the money for, but after that the money is ALL MINE! And my first big purchase will be a ski! So, needless to say I'm very pumped about the job and the fact that I finally have an income, with VERY VERY FEW expenses none-the-less, so a new (to me) ski is in my future in about 4 months!

I hear that, I got a job out of college with my degree (engineering) and thought it was a good deal. Well turns out 90% travel and a salary that comes out to about 5 dollars an hour (when you are working 90-100 hour weeks) sucks balls. I quit that job and went after my passion (one of them at least - custom car audio). Did that for about a year, then quit to help my brother who opened a restaurant (ended up waiting tables and making peanuts, and piling up a sh!tload of debt). As of about 5 weeks ago, I started a CAREER, working for an oil&gas engineering firm. I am making almost twice as much as my first engineering job, and am still broke (paying off debts), but in a few months I'll be caught up and on my way to a new sxr or sj. This is one of the best jobs I have ever had. Cheers to you, and congratulations!

Thanks man, and congrats on you finally finding a job that you enjoy! As of now (only worked 5 days), my job seems to be pretty decent. I know they're not going to expect me to work much more than 40 hours/week my first few weeks, but the place seems laid back enough to not expect much more than 40 regularly, which is good. And it's pretty decent pay, especially given the current state of the economy. And, btw, I am an engineer as well.
