Thanks! Did you have surgery too? I broke the radius and navicular (i believe) shifted 180 degrees. Needed 9 screws and a complicated 2.5 hour surgery

No surgery or hardware for me. Fractured the ulna if I remember correctly. Typical 6 weeks healing.

I did the same thing on Friday morning I saw a small wave so I came up to do a nose stab which I've done many many times and I slipped out of the holds and rolled my ankle sprained my ankle in every place. Sucks to get hurt I hope everything heals good.

It is hard to not feel your pain after listening to that!! I do not have any foot holds and have been thinking I need some - good reason to get some - get better soon !!

Well without holds you have more of a chance of something like this happening..

Sorry to hear about your injury bro:( I've been there many times before in my moto days and now recovering from torn bicep at work. Hang in there and work hard as soon as rehab comes into play. If you have any questions or just need to bs with someone feel free to hit me up!:)

Here's an xray of one of my worst breaks. I have a pic of my wrist too but I think its too graphic.

Did the same thing at the brig ride in 2012. Barrel roll re entry to sand. Held on tight and hit bottom. Broke a little off the nose of the ski and my radius at the same time.

Well you handled it pretty well, I know when I did my wrist racing MX, it was by far the worst pain I have felt. Much worse than breaking the radius of my other arm the year before (both of those came with hardware for me).

Is there any way to avoid stuff like this is you're locked in your holds? Like leaning back and over the side of the ski so you flop instead of taking the impact to the front of the ski?

how long was recovery and how is your wrist function now?

I was back to work after 6 weeks. Had to take it easy though. I broke mine September 16, 2012. I was riding in Daytona 2013. So 4 months later I was back on a ski.

When it gets cold and rainy it clicks on me and gets stiff. I noticed when lifting Sheetrock or plywood with both hands out in front of me, (like when hanging it on a wall) I have some weakness in my grip on that hand. Other than that I never notice it. I did some pretty intense PT though to get back to normal quick. The doctor said to do it that way since I am fairly young and active. He said build the muscle back up ASAP.

But other than the occasional stiffness in the joint I forget I even broke it.

When I fell out it was a freak accident not something I saw coming. I normally hit 5 footers at 30mph to do a nose stab and there has never been a problem. This wave was 1 foot at best and I just slipped and rolled my ankle and impacted the bulkhead putting all my weight on it

My holds don't "lock" my feet in that just my preference. But I guarantee it was from my shoes the soles are pretty warn down which caused my to slip. So in hindsight wear shoes with grip.
