What all would it take to do this right on a pre 08 SJ? I personally love the less slide thing.

So much work it's not worth the time/ get an SXR

Not really going to be the same, the new one is narrower as well in the rear and with the setback pump and sponsons its totally different.

Oh yeah, I know it wouldn't be the same, but if you didn't go overboard, it seems like it would help it handle a little better eh?

I think there is some stuff on pwc today, but basically you run the pvc back and forth across the chines with sand paper wrapped around it to take out all the imperfections. You do it enough and you will deepen and sharpen the chines. I did this to my hull and you can notice a difference between it and a stock hull. If you sand enough on the outside you will start to get another chine.

I spent a great deal of time doing this to the bottom of my Kaw-750SX.

I added a little over an inch to the bottom of the chines. Here are a few pictures of what I started with.

I knocked down the peaks of the existing chines and added some long thin strips of balsa wood to create the new profile for the chines.

Eric.

I used a thick epoxy paste with cabosil and and chopped strand fiberglass & chopped strand carbon fiber for a majority of the build up on the chines. I used a few different lengths of of 4" dia PVC tubing to form both the inside and outside radius of the chines. (I did the outsides first as you can see in these pictures).
After the epoxy paste was dry I sanded out all of the high spots with another piece of 4" dia PVC tubing with 36 grit sandpaper taped to it.
I added a few layers of light weight fiberglass cloth, draped over the chines between each application of paste during the build-up for strength.
In total I think I did about five applications of paste to get to the profile I was after.

How did this mod work out for you? What did you notice the most? Any loss in speed that you can tell? Does it chine walk any worse? Rail better? Cool mod. Aways wanted to try it just didn't know how it would react.
