Had some discussions at Daytona. Had to talk about riding since there was no waves worth riding. :Banane09:

Where should you be landing on a Re-Entry? ?
--Out in front of the white wash. In the middle of the white wash, Or land just the rideplate on the white wash? I like the last option.

Landing in front in the wash (NOT behind the wave) is the sweet spot soft landings, imo.... Ski should land flat, with the nose pointing towards shore.... none of this nose high re entry stuff, landing behind the wave, etc.

But the NJ FX1 guys are the re entry kings

They a BIOTCH to learn is all I know, I am a kbehind the cotton unfortunately but in whatching the king of re entries Taylor Curtis for YEARS it would seem nose level and tail in the cotton is where its at!

The best piece of advise I've received on this came from..............specialfx! Imagine that! It was simple but made the trick easy.

"open your belly, or, the hull of the ski to the wave b4 take off" in other words: don't stay level. You will land behind the wave every time.
Get horizontal (as much as the wave is) and you will launch forward.

The guy is a genius!

Depends on your take off. For me the coolest ones are taking off on an A frame and landing on a nice soft face in front of the junk. Almost like going wake to wake.

the most important part of doing reentries is your takeoff and 99.999% of people dont do it right...

if you think u are hitting it late enough you arnt..u need to hit the steepest, scariest part of the wave as late as possible..the most important thing is to match the angle of the bottom of your ski to the angle of the wave..its like airing out of a 1/4 pipe on a skateboard basically...when the wave is really steep and hollow you should almost be upside down when u are taking off...the main reason people cant do them properly is because they stand totally wrong...you have to stand with your body sideways on the ski..if you are standing with your chest/hips facing the handlepole and your feet pointing bow to stern you cant get off to the side of your ski...when u are standing sideways you can get your body next to the ski so you can really lay the ski over...you keep your knees and elbows really bent so one side of the bars are tucked up in your chest..when u loft a big one your body is almost infront of the handlepole as your apexing...you can physically do them other ways but its usually pretty ugly..

Any re-entry that's puts a smile on your face is a good one in my book

Agree!!

My favorite re-entries to do (or watch someone do) are those that are very fluid with little chenge in momentum and hardly any splash. I just think they look and feel best.

No offecnse to the vid above (Serlin is a great rider!), but that's about the least fluid one I've ever seen him do.

Surfjunkie you are the Man when it comes to reentries ! stock ski crappy waves and all just launching getting tweeked out in the air with perfect on the middle of the face or cotton ball landings time after time. Scott when are you going to start riding again?
