Surfriding Define Re-Entry

thanks for the compliment tem!! i cant backflip or b/r so i get lots of practice.

i might try to find a cheap beater to play on this spring/summer. i had just gotten too addicted and had to sell everything and chill out for a while.

Surfjunkie you are the Man when it comes to reentries ! stock ski crappy waves and all just launching getting tweeked out in the air with perfect on the middle of the face or cotton ball landings time after time. Scott when are you going to start riding again?

X2... Scott if you have time to lurk the X you might as well start riding again. You do sweet re-entries for sure!

according to the "rules" is an air that is ridden out in front of the wave. past that its open to interpretation, style points. i like to keep the nose down as much as possible, makes for a better landing. tail first and its not going to be smooth or look very good so thats a big no no. footholds and staggered stance also bad form. the key to the reentry is the pop and tuck, as andrew said, hit it late and with the ski layed over to match the bottom of the hull to the face of the lip. push your weight forward as you hit it, then once you feel that pop lift with your legs and keep pushing forward. land on the throttle and keep momentum up so you dont sink the nose. ez.

Agree with Stanton/Andrew....hit it late, deep, and layed over. How it goes from there will differ somewhat on whether you ride "free" (no hold or straps), or "connected" (holds, and/or straps). I look the look of both styles, but they're definitely different....variety rules!

yup the more layed over the better...its basically like doing a scrub on a moto..it will get you less height but it looks way better and is more fun...

you can even land that way too...this is an old sequence...you can see the difference between the two pics..i used to ride with my body facing more strait forward not off the side of the ski so much...i think it looks much better when your feet are perpendicular to the tray...you can tweak it out much further..you also have more leverage to bring it back..i used to land sideways allot and turn/power out of it...now that i stand more sideways you can use the pole to bring it back

I like to land in the whitewater when i do re-entries. Only thing that sucks is my pump cavitates a lot in the bubbles. So even if i land a sick re-entry, I usually just flop over haha.

I just watched some vids and pics like the ones above (which are sick by the way!) and practiced them over and over. Tweak out your own style!
