I think most can agree that there is a difference between freeride and freestyle, the first being done in surf primarily and the latter being done on flat water (of which both terms have been used interchangeably in my experience when people are talking about jetski stuff, but is that what we want, confusion over the terms? I do try and point out the difference when someone asks)
So we can agree on the following:
1. Its an expression session of aerial maneuvers or surf wave riding
2. It requires naturally generated waves (other wise its flat water or freestyle or wake chasing)
3. It can be recreational or competitive
4. In whatever circumstances, the rider should not be prohibited from performing any maneuver they wish

When you were supposed to get a ticket for no fire extinguisher and you didn't that day is a true Freeride.
Freeride is surf riding imo....ride with no plan...just see what mother nature throws at you.
Freestyle is flatwater to me....most flatwater riders have a plan/routine of what trick they're going to do.

Freeride= wave slashing, big re-entrys, wave riding and some flip aerials. There are to many back flips and rolls, its not easy do giant flips and rolls and take big balls and skill but to surf ride big waves takes major talent/skill as well. I have seen guys that are unreal in surf style as well as throwing monster flips but get beat out because some other guy is throwing crazy flex flips and rolls over and over. There needs to be emphasis on surf style, only my opinion.

not one jump... u would nee to actually work the wave. points for riing the barrel, carving, reentry, and arial. must complete all forms for best score

What term should be used for a large gathering of people that get together and rec ride jetskis. Does the term change if everything about the event is the same except Surf vs Lake?
