"Freeride" - As a term to me is when you get a group of people and make a plan to meet somewhere and have a ride. It can be a weekend or just a day. There are no compitions, no races. you are just out riding".

You are either a Racer or Freerider or a Rec rider
Racer= Tuning testing running buoys repeat ( includes freestyle learning next trick) Go to the races and amp out all day waiting on 2 motos
Freerider= surf /lake screwing off on a ski, building skis and breaking parts Serious about jetskiing ride every chance you get and push yourself to be a better rider
Rec rider = owns a ski rides only when the weather is nice,would rather go to party cove then shred all day Takes their ski to a dealership to get winterized
In the 90s when racing was big If you had a stand up you were racing. Regions were full of people wanting to hit the track LCQs in every class.
There were two tours so there was always a race close
Had to be in the top at the end to go to Havasu.
They even had real pay outs it was a good time.
Then things fell apart Racing was pretty much over here I starting asking you going to race Nope would rather FREERIDE than spend the cash on race fees with no payouts
I heard this term from a buddy in 1999/2000
The funny thing is I have spent way more cash now on going to freerides and skis then I did racing and two kids racing
