The Good Old Days
I glued in a piece of aluminum in the front using 5200 and held it in place with some clamps. I also glued 2 small pieces in the back.
After the 5200 cured I placed the tray down and glassed.
Foam came last.

Worked good for me.

That is exactly what I was going to do.

i have been thinking way ahead for when i do mine this winter and i was just going to glue some popsickle (sp?) sticks in for the panels to rest on then glue, glass, the fill with foam.

I used popsicle stick and hot glue to make a mold around the bond line on teh outside to extend the rails an inch and a 1/2. Worked great.

You should just split the halves apart. If you have the motor out it takes about as long as it would with cutting it and the glasswork.
