Super Jet Defoaming is the worst

I started my defoam today. It's terrible, but the foam is dry and I'm finishing it up tomorrow due to I run out of shade around noon. I used a wire wheel because it's what I have, but will go pick up a wire cup tonight. I don't think the cup kicks back like the wheel does.

wire cup on a die grinder... then when u get the core stuff pressure washer removes quite a bit too...messy azz job sucks ! are you going to use extruded polystyrene foam, drain plugs and reinforce tray ?...lots of threads in ski build ups....

my favorite tool for defoaming a ski is called a Crud Thug and it's made by snap on...last one we used it on i had 75% of the foam out in about an hour..took it to the power washer and finished it up. the crud thug is where it's at...pricey but has so many uses works great for removing turf to..i got all the turf off my ski in about 35 minutes. the fine brush takes the turf and the paint off without damaging the fiberglass at all....makes a mess but i can't live without it in the toolbox anymore

Man I have refoamed two skis now and didn't find it to be hard at all... Not sure what the fuss is about.

I used a prybar, screwdrivers and a chisel. No other tools required. A little sanding before reinforcing.

lol i think your missing the point. it would make a killer fire to drink beer beside

but on a real note, that actually might work. that is just letting it melt the foam. but im afraid the mess would be horrible and you would have a bunch of nasty slush to get rid of. plus you would have to clean the shat out of the inside of the tray to get it ready for reinforcement....

ill watch the video thou if you wanna try it and post it haha

so many defoam threads, so much misery. This is why I continue to ride my waterlogged pig. However, I read these threads in order to prepare myself for the inevitable job ahead.....in winter....after Daytona....nah...It can go another year!

But the tool info and even the gas idea (especially the "drink a beer" part) make it sound more pleasant.

Heavy boats ride better in surf. (is what I keep telling myself).

But seriously. The only reservation I have about leaving the 2-part foam thing is support for the footholds. Has anyone had an issue with this?

surfersmurf seems to like his latest build. says its holding up good and the only support is beer pong balls. good reinforcement could hold an elephant its just a matter of how much weight you want to add.

yum beer... nom nom nom

I have no issues with foothold support in my ski. I run mostly polystyrene and some 2-part to fill the gaps.

not in english but gives some more detail on the crud thug....when i did my footholds i literally had the perfect shape out of the foam for the hold in less than 1 minute each

tzane last one we just got done doing i filled the tray area with 5 empty and capped 2 liter soda bottles and 27 empty 20 oz soda bottles...then i poured just a tiny bit of foam in the tray area just to hold them in place...worked perfect and really helped lighten up the back of the ski
