For the guys who run this battery how long are you getting use out of them? This is my second one and it only lasted 4 months , the first one barely under a year. When not in use I usually put it on a battery tender.

Luckily I kept my receipt for my year warranty . Hopefully no problems switching then Tomm

I have 4 right now. The 2 currently in my skis are over 4 years old and the 2 spares are just over 2 years old now.

I thought 3 out of 4 were failing about 6 months ago but finally discovered that the problem was actually failed battery cables in my ski. I built all new cables and I'm right back to cranking right up and not even having to charge before riding.

All I use on them is a trickle charger to top them off the night before a ride.

I've had pretty good luck with mine so far, and I run my bilges generally the entire time..many times I have left them on accidentally during a break for 30 mins or so and it cranks right back up..the weight savings Over my old crappy liquid filled is night and day..I can't justify 160+ for a battery for one of those minis...got mine for like 65.00 shipped to me, so well worth it..

Ya I don't even have a bilge on my new ski. I like the size and weight savings but hopefully I can get it returned with no problems and back on the water Tomm. I just don't know if my battery tender sucks but when I had a sit down I barely did anything to the battery (yes it was a bigger) one but that would last a few years.

I've always been hesitant to leave something on a trickle charger. Only thing I've ever done is put something on trickle and remove it and if it's not used long enough re charge it..to me constant charging of a battery seems to shorten battery life..but that could just be me, or something I made up in my head lol

I leave my Battery Tender on my AGMs all the time. They're supposed to be smart and once full, they monitor and maintain the battery. They don't keep trying to force more into it or anything like that.

Same here...thought I killed one once...it was other issues so now I have 2 good Deka 9's.

I also leave mine on the charger a lot! Mostly because at 195psi this battery does not like to start my ski unless it is 70+ degrees out.

If they started out as OEM wires then they are probably just fine. There's some A/M cables on the market that are made from fine strand copper welding wire that corrode horribly if they get any salt water intrusion at all. More than a few of our riding group got burned with this in the last couple years including myself. Can't tell you how many starters, bendix's and batteries were purchased/swapped getting to the bottom of it either. I will say that we are all running tinned copper cables now though.

They swapped the battery out , after sitting on their trickle charger it wouldn't hold a full charge. I may upgrade my charger though but the cables I have is a brand new negative and positive is pretty decent Dad!

The Dekas tend to live at a lesser voltage. Most batteries will charge around 12.6vdc but I found all my Dekas to be consistently around 12.46vdc.
