you have hit all the roadblocks that stopped me from making the same thing last year. how to do the wheels? getting the ski on and off is easy its removing the wheels mid tilt. or having clearance to mount with wheels.

I have an idea but the thing is the more you add to it the more expensive it becomes until you get to the point where its no longer cheap and simple.

as it is now just the way you have it, there is plenty of time to cut and weld it up and by the time you make bunks and carpet them, drill holes for rec. pin add hardware its not cheap anymore or quick and easy unless you work for 5/hr.

easiest way is to bring a cart.

can you foam his hood this time?

Andre, when we were working on mine I was going to make/use something like a Tiger Tote that would roll up on the carrier (using the V shaped rollers). But then you need the wheels to pop off mid-stream like Tom said...

removable wheels and axle, then a pull pin pivot point for it to removed from the hitch ?

just a thought. then it would be able to touch the ground and the receiver placed in the hitch by 1 person.

By the time you add the attachments you need and the wheels, you might as well just bring a beach cart.
My goal is to build the pictured carrier in my original post and possibly add an attachment to carry a beach cart.

for the cart mode- why dont you use something like the little wheel on the tongue of trailers ( but 4 of them)? it can swing and lock up/down with a pin, and you could lower the wheel with a swivel crank-type idea. That would allow you to transfer weight from car to cart. only problem would be the size of the wheels.
