I dont have any pics sorry. I just used a hole saw on the inside, Im not sure why you would bother going aftermarket when you can just cut a hole but the option is there

I never checked the compression. I have 37 domes on the way, and will check it as soon as I have it assembled. Just waiting on domes atm.

Wax, I think i'll have problems welding the box back together.. I think my argon tank is empty and the box is aluminum.

Pretty sure he just stuck a drill bit through the inlet and outlet to make more holes for more flow. But i'll let him answer

The new Xmetal box is really nice and has a good sound. Too rich for my blood though for little or no power gain.

Yep rich for my blood too but my friend bought one and I had to have that deep throaty sound. It's makes your ears think you have more power too.

If you mod your stock box i think i know someone who could prob weld it back together quick for ya....

if the stock waterbox is setup for a 701, when these manufacturers went to 1100 and 1200cc motors, they needed bigger waterboxes, and or outlets, maybe im talking outta my arse :dunno:

Not sure what you are talking about. The waterbox is made for a 701 superjet, and nothing bigger than a 701 ever came in the superjet. Yamaha knows we are going to modify our skis. They build the waterbox to pass EPA standards. Yamaha isn't allowed to just yank the "for competition use only" sticker off the B-pipe and stick it on the ski. If they have to lower the sound to keep selling, they have to. Why did every 2007 YFZ450 come one jet size lean? Because it lowered the emissions to a level to still be able to sell it in the US. 1st time at the dealer, they sell you a jet, seems like a pain, but it's change a jet or complain about a boring motor. Be glad they still sell the superjet at all. Kawi pulled out.

Have you seen a GP1200 waterbox? It has 3" in/out and is bigger than my motor.

I just talked to one of the local guys is running a XS900R with all the bolt ons, 55mph GPS, great power to the top, plenty of WOT, 1st in several local races against hydrospaces and SXR, I'm sure he has 50 if not 100 hours on it by now, stock box, no issues. Not sure which year but it is a 08+ hull. Unless chuckie swaped it with a 07- box instead of a XS box and didn't tell him, but that would be silly.

Shining a light into the outlet of the waterbox theres about a quarter size hole with tracks of carbon where the exhaust flows. Besides that .. I don't see anywhere else it can flow. Was hoping I could get a waterbox rush delivered for tomorrow but didnt work out, so I guess im cutting it open. I wanted it to be a little brappier sounding anyway.

I did get all the stuff today to slap it back together .. Dropping off my ducati in the AM for 7500 mile service and after hopefully get this finished and do a compression/squish check with 37cc domes.

With the new 37cc ADA domes I was getting around .034 front cylinder and .026 rear cylinder. So I put the old 36cc domes in and was getting .04 front and .03 rear. Seems a bit tight to me?

I cut apart the waterbox, after finding a pic of a pre 08 waterbox online they don't look too different.. 2 small 1/2" holes on the bottom for water transfer between the baffle plate and 2x 1 1/2" pipes on the top. It looks like some exhaust travels through those 1/2" holes on the bottom as well, just following the tracks of carbon tells me that. Im not sure yet how im going to modify it, I just want it to have a little deeper sound to it and not obnoxiously loud.
