Deutsch Connectors

Thanks ZZ. I didn't want to keep buggin you so I found John to bug. When I mentioned solder, he went off. So I figured try it without, I could always solder later. Happy to say, no issues so far. BTW, do you use the 6th pin for a 2nd ground? Seems like it would make sense in your case. Yeah and I like to shop crap down as far as possible, but I was out of time and this guy had everything packed together, kinda of prevented me from pullin one of my signature bonehead plays of ordering one piece wrong.

I use the DT connectors (like yours) on most oem stuff like you have done in your pictures... I agree makes future repairs way easier. On our total loss systems we use a Miniaturized version of the DT. Much smaller terminals and much smaller body. Main reason is the sensor wires are 20 gauge so the silicone gland seals on them vs. the DT version leaked. All in all my favorite connectors regardless. I like them so much I think I have probably 5 or so of each configuration and 200+ terminals along with.

Hey man I see you do a lot of carbon builds. Do you bond your carbon hull back to batt ? I've been searchin on this subject and can't get any definitive answers on the subject. Some off-shore race boat guys bond everything, tanks, motors, drives. Curious what you do.

I honestly do not do anything special to my carbon hulls. I treat every build the same. Never had an issue with batteries or electronics in carbon hulls to be honest

Fyi, cost for everything to build two mating pairs of connectors was about $30 after shipping from digikey. Pay special attention to the part numbers for the pins and sockets to ensure they are compatible with each other. Crimpers not included. I intend to crimp in a brute force way and solder the conductor. If i was installing tens or more, I’d gladly get the crimper, but as i prefer to solder anyway, it’s not that big of a time savings.

Should anyone stumble on this and be interested in a group buy type thing working out to maybe $18 per connector set shipped, I wouldn't mind getting them all, repackaging, and mailing them out. My kids love assembling packages like that.

$30? Where you pricing gold plated terminals?

Is there such a thing as cheap and good crimpers for these connectors? I see several for the $30-$40 range and I just need them to fix one connector on my old seadoo 657 and hate spending that much for one pair of crimpers that I'll never use again? I think that's the cheap side also.

After shipping ya, what $7-$8? I usually buy bulk so I break shipping down per item. I calculated if I was to purchase an 8 pin plug M/F to be about $15 parts + shipping. So not far off

I had an extra $4 in there from unrelated stuff, sorry. But yeah, ballpark.

Just solder them instead.
