how can you vote by mail this late?

:usa2:

I'll drop my ballot off at a "collection site" (the county courthouse). Washington state is all vote by mail. So is Oregon. I think that the idea sucks and that it actually reduces turnout.

I believe however that you just need to have your ballot postmarked by election day. I know that is how it used to be. I'm not sure if the laws have changed or not.

One thing that has always bothered me was the fact that the east coast polls close way before they do out here in the west, and have a huge influence upon voter turnout since the media starts calling the race early........

Just plain me....

That is very true. The media should keep their cock holsters shut. Along that lines I think all of the speculation during early voting has some influence too.

Mailed in 2 weeks ago, since I am stuck in Chicago now.

Gonna be an Obama lovefest out here later today. They're shutting down streets and crap like that.

Also had air raid siren tests in the office park today. I am guessing that is in case McCain wins, this place will be riot-central.

Laws have not changed. Still needs to be postmarked election day.

Why do you think that allowing people to vote at home, at their own leisure, without having to sacrifice time on a work day, will reduce turnout?
There is only ONE study (in OR) that claims that other studies, showing turnout is increased, are wrong.
