Difference between 61x and 62t cdi

Putting a 61x 701 in my blaster to replace the worn out 6m6 in there now. I have a 61x stator for the new motor, but the only cdi's I have are a 6m6 in the ski now and an extra 62t cdi. Will the 62t cdi work with the 61x stator or will I need to get a matching 61x cdi? Thanks

i believe they are different. i know at least when you hook up an msd enhancer one of the connectors ( believe white wire) is different and needs a jumper plug

You should be able to use the whole 6m6 electronics (CDI and stator) on that engine, from what I understand...
Lance put the original electronics from that 650 on his 701 and it ran.

6m6 or 61x stator MUST USE 61x or 6M6 Flywheel; they are interchangeable, almost identical.

62T stator MUST USE 62t Flywheel.

CDI's are interchangeable among all of the above. But you might need a jumper on one wire (like the one provided with an Enhancer). The 62T would be most desirable because it has a better timing curve and higher rev limiter.

64x 760 ONLY WORKS with 64x 760 - this is a digital ignition, totally different than the ones listed above.

I am using a 62t cdi in my jetmaniac 718cc 61x, that is still using the 6m6 electronics/stator/flywheel. It works great and starts much "hotter" . As mentioned, better timing curve and higher rev limiter. It did not require any changing of wires, or a jumper wire.

What is the difference in timing curve? I am going from a 650 cdi to a 62t from a wb2. I thought about upgrading to a msd but would rather spend money on other parts right now. What is the timing curve like between the three. Oh yea it will be on a ported 760 with exhaust timing lowered running 200 psi of compression.

WB2 is a 760 if I'm not mistaken.

Completely different ignition than 650/701 setups.

Has retarded timing for the rear cylinder and is not interchangeable with 650/701

Ok sorry yes I'm not using the cdi that came out of the 760. I believe it says 64x on the back. I do have a 62t cdi I am planning on using. I was just curious the difference in the timing curve compared to the 650 or msd.

I've never tried it back to back but it's really nothing worth noting.

MSD only for me. I lasted one ride with a stock CDI this season and hated it. I went home and promptly switched it for an enhancer.

Ok we'll the motors not complete yet. So i dont really know if i need a higher revlimit But if I'm not hitting the rev limit with a stock cdi what's the benefit of being able to raise it any higher?

With a pipe, a head, and the appropriately pitched prop I hit the rev limiter on a 61x at WOT. It bumps up against it and slows the ski down.
