Super Jet Differences between 08+ and other handle poles?

Does anyone have photos or details about why exactly the 08+ poles won't work the same?

I understand that the steering cable is different, but is it something that can be adapted or is it so different that there is nothing you can do?

I'm hunting for a 08+ and i've had 3 offers for a pre 08, so i'm trying to learn what the differences are.

The 08+ pole is an FX1 pole. The cast piece on the top of the pole is shorter than on a Superjet.
The distance between the steering cable fix location (right as it enters the pole) and steering plate is shorter.
That means you can only use an FX1/08+ cable. It also means that it has shorter throw.

Hmmm, ok so there is no way to adapt a older SJ pole to work with the FX1/08'SJ cable... damn.

I guess that does answer my question.

You might be able to do it by somehow modifying where the steering cable mounts.
You should go to a pre-08 pole setup and steering cable anyhow, because it provides you with more steering throw.

Check out the kit TS Innovations is selling on here. I put it on my 08 and it fixed the steering issues. It is basically a modified steering cable that allows for far greater throw. Great way to finally get great throw with a stock 08+ pole.

I know it's lazy, but I'm on here on my phone.
Got a link? If not I'll find it tomorrow.

Either way thanks for the tip!

Soooooooooooooo..... I explained what my setup would be and he said unless I wanted to use my stock pole that I could not use his setup. So I dunno...

It's a fix for the turning issues caused by the FX-1 pole Yamaha put on the 08+ SJ's. If you have a pre 08 pole you won't need this setup and can just use a regular steering cable.

Ok cool. I misunderstood the thread you linked.

I pulled the AC pole off tonight, I think it won't be hard chop it and reuse it.
They seem to have marginal value used in good condition. And mine is beat...

So I am kind of confused. If I am building a ski and put an 08+ handle pole on it I will have steering throw issues? Or If I use say an 07 steering cable I will be ok? Does it just have to do with the steering cable and plate or the pole its self? I bought an 08 pole cause its already 2 inch short hope I am not gonna be screwed.

Thanks

You can't use an 07 cable with an 08 pole.
If you're using the 08 system (pole and cable) you will have less steering throw than with the 07 and earlier system.
It would have been easier to shorten an 07 pole.

So I have to go with the the system thrust sells or get another pole? I dont have a steering cable yet just working on building a ski and bought an 08 pole. SO my two options are go with an earlier pole and cut it or go with the 09 pole and get the thrust set up?

Thanks for the help
