650/X-2 Differences between Westcoast EP650 domes & EP6500 domes

I just acquired a ep650 head with a motor and would like to install smaller domes but can only find ep65XX domes. I have read several times that they are not interchangeable but my question is; are the close enough that with a little machining they can be made to fit. I have been toying with idea of making new ones but thought if I could modify existing 6500 domes it would save a lot of time. Has anyone compared them side by side and know the differences?

just run the domes you got, don't try and make them, or just buy a new head. To run smaller domes the rest of the motor should be built and race gas used. Smaller domes can also lessen the life of the engine.
