My little brother and I haul dirt bikes, camping gear, fishing gear, and now a rhino and rzr up to Crested Butte, CO every summer. We camp in tents for a week or so and ride all across Gunnison National Forest. The forest is somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.6 million acres.

Where we camp is 17 miles from the nearest little trading post and gas station. You have to rely on your equipment, friends, and spare parts. I will post up some pics from past summers. If anyone else does anything like this feel free to chime in.

The biggest forest we have to ride is 100,000 acres. I cant imagine having that much open space to explore (and all that elevation change!). Thats pretty incredible.

Its fun, challenging, rewarding, and humbling all at once - and even more importantly it brings me closer to my brother and the good Lord up above. It doesn't surprise me that so many people into dirtbikes are also into standups and vice versa.

We jet our bikes for 10,000' but the area we ride ranges from 8,500 - 12,500 elevation. Where we camp is right around 10,000' - it usually gets close to freezing every night and thats in late July early August.

Last summer there was a meteor shower the last night we camped. Nothing like shooting stars at that elevation - some had tails three inches long.
